Nick Smoot - CEO & Founder

After successfully starting and selling three tech companies, Nick returned to his home state of Idaho to launch Innovation Collective and Mountain Man Ventures to help redifine how cities and citizens participate in the global economy. He is a Milken Institute Young Leader and is a member of the Young Entrepreneur Council. Nick has been interviewed for or contributed to Bloomberg, Forbes, USA Today, Fast Company, Mashable, Virgin, LinkedIn, Inc. Magazine and Huffington Post. Chris Cochran - COO

Chris has a long history in Idaho. He started his professional life in the non-profit sector focused on leadership development with junior high and high school students. Upon leaving the non-profit world, Chris started several consulting companies focused on new media, podcasting, and later IT. He leveraged his startup experience to a full time role in executive IT and Infrastructure Consulting, working with both startups and established firms. Chris currently manages the operations of the Innovation Collective, including the IC programs in Coeur d'Alene.

Nathan Frisk - Director of Content

With a background in public speaking and leadership development, Nathan found video to be a fantastic avenue for communication. In 2013, he founded Aro Communications which focuses on corporate storytelling and training. Nathan joined the Innovation Collective staff in the spring of 2016 and is excited to share the story of IC transforming small communities into tech hubs.


Heidi Cochran - Director of events

Heidi began her career as director of a child care facility, later becoming an operations executive with a paper crafting startup. Heidi currently serves as IC's Director of Events, responsible for project management of every IC event. She has a deep commitment to her adopted hometown of Coeur d'Alene and ensuring it thrives during the future of work.



Mike Culton - Director of Marketing & Design

Mike is a native of the Pacific Northwest who leads IC's visual communication and marketing campaigns. He leverages his 15+ years of design experience to craft the tone and brand of IC's many initiatives, using his history in retail, healthcare, direct selling, construction, real estate, sports recreation, and public education to share the IC story. Mike enjoys the challenge of using graphic design to build bridges within diverse communities and connect citizens to the possibilities of entrepreneurship.
